01 / Check Before Ordering

Q16C Installation Requirements

Before ordering, please carefully check your window or door frame. Q16C is designed for shallow window recesses and narrow frame edges, offering a slim and space-saving installation.

Standard Minimum Frame Depth 0.40" 10.2 mm recess depth
Minimum Frame-Edge Width 0.36" 9.2 mm clear mounting width

IMPORTANT: If your window frame depth is less than 0.40" (10.2 mm), the shade will protrude further beyond the frame surface. Please carefully consider whether the additional projection is acceptable for your installation, especially if door clearance is limited.

You may still consider installing Q16C with a shallower frame, provided that sufficient mounting support and clearance are available. Alternatively, explore our other Q16 models to find a better fit for your window or door frame.

Q16C French Door Cellular Shades Measuring Guide
Standard Q16C Measuring Guide
  • 1. Measure Frame Depth Measure from the glass surface to the front face of the door or window frame. The standard required depth is 0.40" (10.2 mm). A shallower frame will result in additional shade projection.
  • 2. Check Frame-Edge Width The clear mounting width should be at least 0.36" (9.2 mm). Check for handles, seals and other obstructions.
  • 3. Verify Door Clearance Make sure the installed shade will not interfere with the door handle, adjacent doors, screens or surrounding walls. Pay extra attention if your frame depth is less than 10.2 mm.
  • 4. Measure Glass Width & Height Measure the glass opening as shown in the guide. For standard installation, use the measured glass width and glass height as your order size.
02 / Made to Your Measurements

Custom Size Range

Each Q16C shade is custom-made to your selected measurements. Choose the desired width and height from the available product options.

Custom Width 8"–39" Approx. 200–1,000 mm
Custom Height 8"–78" Approx. 200–2,000 mm

Reference dimensions for the Q16 series. Please refer to the selectable product options for confirmed Q16C size availability.

STANDARD ORDER SIZE:
Glass Width (W) × Glass Height (H).

If your door has handles or obstructions that reduce the available frame-edge width, please follow the special measuring guide below before entering your order dimensions.

03 / Choose the Right Model

Q16A vs Q16B vs Q16C

Not all French door and window frames are the same. Our Q16 series offers different frame profiles designed for various installation conditions.

Compare the minimum recess depth, mounting-edge width and projected profile to choose the model that best fits your door or window.

Q16A Q16B and Q16C French Door Cellular Shades Frame Comparison
Q16A / Q16B / Q16C Installation Specifications
Wider Frame Edge
Q16A
Minimum Frame-Edge Width
0.52" / 13.2 mm
Minimum Recess Depth
0.43" / 11 mm

Suitable for windows and doors with a wider mounting edge and a moderately shallow glass recess.

Narrow Frame Edge
Q16B
Minimum Frame-Edge Width
0.28" / 7 mm
Minimum Recess Depth
0.75" / 19 mm

Ideal for narrower mounting edges when the window frame has a deeper glass recess. Its recessed design helps minimize outward projection.

YOU ARE VIEWING THIS MODEL
Q16C
Minimum Frame-Edge Width
0.36" / 9.2 mm
Standard Minimum Recess Depth
0.40" / 10.2 mm

Designed for shallow French door and window frames. Q16C combines a slim recess requirement with a compact mounting-edge design.

Shallower frames may be considered, but the shade will project further beyond the frame surface.

HOW TO CHOOSE: Q16C is an excellent option for shallow frames with at least 0.36" (9.2 mm) of clear mounting-edge width.

If your frame is shallower than 0.40" (10.2 mm), consider whether the additional projection will affect your door operation or overall appearance.

If you have a deeper recess but a narrower mounting edge, Q16B may be a better alternative. Review the comparison before ordering.

04 / Special Measuring Instructions

Special Installation for Door Handle Obstructions

Some French doors have handles, hardware or other obstructions close to the glass edge. These may prevent a full-size shade frame from fitting properly.

If the available frame-edge width is less than 0.36" (9.2 mm), you may need to reduce the overall shade size to provide enough clearance.

Q16C Special Measuring Guide for Door Handle and Frame Width Obstructions
Special Measuring Guide — Adjusting Shade Size for Frame and Handle Clearance

Standard Installation

If the frame edge is unobstructed and the available mounting width is at least 9.2 mm (0.36"):

Order Size = W × H

W = Glass Width
H = Glass Height

No special size adjustment is required.

Special Installation

If a door handle or obstruction reduces the available frame-edge width below 9.2 mm:

Order Size = W1 × H1

W1 = Adjusted Width
H1 = Adjusted Height

Reduce the affected dimension to provide sufficient clearance for the shade frame.

SPECIAL WIDTH ADJUSTMENT FORMULA

If only one side has an obstruction:

W1 = W − (9.2 − d)

If both sides have obstructions:

W1 = W − (9.2 − dL) − (9.2 − dR)

W = Original Glass Width
d = Available Clear Space on the Affected Side
dL = Left-Side Clearance
dR = Right-Side Clearance

All measurements in these formulas must be in millimeters. Only subtract for sides where the available clearance is less than 9.2 mm.

PLEASE NOTE: Adjusting the order size will reduce the overall shade coverage. This method is intended to help avoid interference with door handles or surrounding hardware.

If your handle overlaps the glass area or the available space is extremely narrow, please contact us with photos and measurements before placing your order.

Always enter your final order size in this sequence: Width × Height.

05 / No-Drill Installation

Easy Adhesive Mounting

Q16C is designed for a clean and convenient installation without drilling holes into your French door or window frame.

1

Check Measurements

Confirm your shade dimensions, frame recess depth, available mounting width and any possible handle interference.

If your recess depth is less than 10.2 mm, check whether the additional outward projection is acceptable.

2

Prepare the Surface

Make sure the mounting surface is clean, dry, smooth and suitable for adhesive mounting.

Remove dust, grease and moisture before applying the adhesive mounting components.

3

Install & Enjoy

Position and secure the shade according to the installation instructions included with your order.

Check that both the shade and door can operate smoothly without interference.

06 / Before You Place Your Order

Important Measuring Reminders

  • Check Frame Recess Depth Q16C is designed for a standard minimum recess depth of 0.40" (10.2 mm). Shallower frames will result in additional outward projection and require careful fit verification.
  • Check Frame-Edge Width Confirm a minimum clear mounting-edge width of 0.36" (9.2 mm), or follow the special measuring guide when an obstruction is present.
  • Verify Door Clearance Check nearby door handles, screens and adjacent doors. The shade must not interfere with normal door operation.
  • Enter Accurate Custom Dimensions Standard installation: W × H.
    Special installation: W1 × H1.
    Check your selected factory deduction option to avoid double deductions.
  • Compare Q16 Models If Q16C is not suitable for your available frame depth, mounting-edge width or door clearance, consider Q16A or Q16B as alternatives.
  • Frame Depth:

    • The minimum required frame depth is 3/4 inches (19 mm).
  • Frame Width:

    • The minimum frame width requirement is 1/4 inches (7 mm).
    • This measurement should be taken from the window handle to the window frame edge.
  • Shade Width and Shade Length: The width and length of the shade should match the window width and window length, respectively.
  • Additional Note: The window width and length should be measured from one interior side of the window to the other interior side.
